G ender stereotypical perception of science subjects by girls is one of the reasons as to why they are not doing well in STEM. In the recent past the national examinations’ outcomes in Kenya show that girls’ performance in science subjects is worrying as well as the transition of girls from higher education institutions and colleges to STEM carriers.   G ender stereotyping is broad and reflects our beliefs and general impression about females and males. It is that image that people create because of the way they have been socialized. Our cultural beliefs have made girls believe that science is a male dominated field. Stereotypes can be in form of gender, ethnicity, or any other groupings. Gender stereotyping categorizations include personalitie s, physical characterization, behaviour and profession. Its time that we stand for change and address stereotypical perception of girls in STEM.
